Biography: Cyril B. Turner is acknowledged as one of the world's leading fine art miniaturists, creating only original works. The majority of these are worked from real life or by on-sight observations and sketches while others are images straight from the mind. His miniatures are never copied or worked from already reduced two-dimensional studies.
His contribution to miniature fine art includes the introduction of 'cold enamel' as a painting medium for miniatures. He is the inventor of Lumitex an archival quality substitute for natural ivory, which is used as a painting surface for miniatures.
Cyril is the author of 14 books on miniature fine art and 18 miniature books with reproductions of his miniature paintings.
In 1988 he was the first non-American to be elected to the Miniature Artists of America. He founded the Turner School of Miniature Painting in 1999 and was made a Founder Member of the American Order of Excellence (F.A.O.E) in 2005. Exhibition venues include the Royal Academy, London (Summer Exhibition); the Centre International d'Art Contemporain, Paris, France; the Smithsonian Institution Washington, DC., and the World Trade Center New York, NY. Cyril was awarded the 'American Order of Merit' representing England in 2008 for outstanding achievements and artistic excellence as recognized by the American Biographical Institute.
